OCD and their Types
Depending upon the common indication of the disease, OCD is divided into five types. Most of the people, though not affected by the disorder itself, are likely to have the warning signs of the disorder. The following types may appear in combination among the patients.
The first type involves the patients who are highly concerned about cleanliness. Therefore they have unusual thoughts about contamination, dirt, germs and viruses. They wash their hands to a maximum extent that they become red and dry. They always worry about being infected or infecting others. The patients show an obsessed behavior and wash their clothes and other things at home for several numbers of times so that they feel they are protecting themselves from contamination.
The second type often fears that they did not lock the house or turn off the light. So they repeatedly check whether they have done the work or not. They believe that disasters will occur if the things are not done properly. Such patients are called checkers. Since they involve themselves in repeated checking, their daily work gets spoiled and they lose harmony in their life.
Patients who involve in arranging the things in an order before executing them are called orderers. Usually these patients’ day begin with ordering the things and if any stranger tries to dislocate them, they get tensed or filled with misery. They are not able do perform any actions unless it is been fixed.
Hoarders are a type of OCD patients who collects items which are rubbish and not useful. Another type of hoarders collect only useful items but the quantity they collect is excess that they will not use in their lifetime. Such condition leads to chaos.
Obsessesers, as the name infers, undergoes intrusive thoughts and pictures which make them feel that they are harmful to others. They have an unusual behavior of chanting certain word or counting numbers.
